Biographical Sketch of J. A. Stevens
J. A. Stevens was born on June 20, 1868, in Omagh, County Tyrone, Ireland. He received a comprehensive education, including studies in science and art in the UK, before working in education for four years in both Europe and the United States. At 22, he transitioned to life insurance, founding The Universal Life Insurance Co. in Cleveland in 1911. He currently serves as secretary and general manager of this company and is president of the Pioneer Life Insurance Co. of America, while also being a member of the Athletic Club.
