Frank (Merrell) Childers, 65, 1808 Oak St., died in a local hospital this morning after a two months’ illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Snodgrass Funeral home. A railroad conductor, Childers was born at Summerville, July 11, 1888 and had been a resident of Union county all his life. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad trainmen, and a World War I veteran. Summerville, Union County, Oregon In this city Friday, October 20, 1905. S.T. Barnes, aged 66 years. Deceased was a native of Missouri, but was one of the pioneer residents of Summerville, having been engaged in business here until a few years ago. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Davis, Kathryn Fae – Obituary

La Grande, Oregon Kathryn Fae Davis of La Grande and formerly of St. Paul, died April 2 at a local care home. Kathryn was born in St. Helens to Fae and Lillie Irene (Rich) Harford. Her father died when she was a young girl, and her mother later remarried Tom Blum, who became a big part of her life. She and her husband, Lester “Sledge” Ernst, owned and operated Ernst Hardware Store in St. Paul until 1964. They had a son, Lester Fae Ernst, who died when he was a young child. Woodell, Dean Mrs. – Obituary

Last Thursday Mrs. Dean (?) Woodell died at her home on Sandridge, after an illness from lung fever. Mrs. Woodell was aged about thirty years, and leaves a husband and a family of five children to mourn her loss. She was the daughter of Justice Collins, of Summerville, and a sister of Mrs. .N. JUSTUS WADE. – This gentleman, the brother of Phares E. Wade, mentioned in these pages, was born in Virginia in 1843. He remained with his parents on the farm in Iowa, receiving a common-school education, and in 1864 crossed the plains to join his brothers in the Grande Ronde valley, arriving among them with but a five-dollar greenback, which was then worth but two dollars in these parts. LOUIS B. RINEHART. – Mr. Rinehart was born in Illinois in 1844, and ten years later accompanied his parents across the plains to Oregon. They followed the track s of 1853 from the mouth of the Malheur to Eugene City via Harney Lake.
