Two Injured In Wreck Die At Hot Lake Sunday Both Mrs. Marjorie Wykoff, of La Grande, and R.L. Hite of Spokane, Wash., seriously hurt in an auto accident Friday of last week, died as a result of their injuries at the Hot Lake sanatorium Sunday. The woman passed away Sunday morning about 1:55 o’clock and the man died early Sunday evening. Skull fractures were said to have caused the death of both. Noah M. Hardesty, 84, of 2509 ½ S. 13th St., died Wednesday [March 28, 1968] in a local hospital. He was born in Spokane and had lived in Tacoma seven years. He was a retired plumber. Longtime Helena resident Minnie E. (Peg) Spalding of 912 Park Lane, died early today [March 30, 1981] at St. Peter’s Community Hospital. She was 74. She came to Helena in 1925. Mrs. Spalding had worked for the Internal Revenue Service and the State Department of Income Tax. She retired in 1962. She was born on December 28, 1906 in Alhambra to Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bonner. Spokane Man Killed In Wreck On Highway John MacKenzie, 22, college athlete of Spokane, was killed six miles west of La Grande on the Old Oregon Trail highway late Saturday night. He was found dead beneath his overturned truck. First reports that he had fallen asleep at the wheel were acouted (sic) by friends, who declared he might have been blinded by light from an approaching car.
