Biography of H. Y. Thompson

H. Y. Thompson, born in Senecaville, Ohio, on June 4, 1845, pursued education and later mining in Oregon and Idaho to improve his health. He became a teacher while studying law, and after being admitted to the bar, he practiced in Salem before moving to Portland in 1870. Thompson served as Prosecuting Attorney and became a prominent lawyer known for his skills in both prosecution and defense. An active Republican, he contributed to state politics and was married to Anna B. Smith, with whom he had three children.
