Biography of John Brodbeck
John Brodbeck, born in Switzerland in 1833, immigrated to the United States in 1857, eventually reaching Idaho in 1865. A pioneer of Boise, he initially engaged in farming and then became involved in the brewing industry. Brodbeck successfully operated a brewery in Boise and served as County Treasurer of Boise County for four terms. He contributed to community improvements, earning the respect of his peers. Brodbeck married Sarah Grattiger in 1860, and they had one daughter, Mrs. T. P. Woodcock.
