Slave Narrative of America Morgan
America Morgan, born in 1852 in Ballard County, Kentucky, recounts her early life as an enslaved child. After her mother was whipped to death, she was sold to various masters, experiencing both cruelty and kindness. By 1865, she gained freedom and was introduced to education by a sympathetic teacher. Despite hardships, including limited resources and familial struggles, she married at seventeen and raised ten children. America reflects on the brutal treatment of slaves and shares experiences of hauntings from her past. She now lives with her family, actively supporting others.
