Biography of Peter Kitchen
Peter Kitchen, born in 1822 in Covington, Kentucky, arrived in Arizona in 1854 and became a prominent pioneer. Serving during the Mexican War, he later established a ranch near Nogales. Living amidst Apache territory, Kitchen fortified his home and defended against numerous attacks, all while cultivating crops and livestock. Despite significant losses, including the murder of his neighbors and son, he remained resolute. He passed away in Tucson on August 5, 1895, leaving a legacy as a steadfast figure in Arizona’s early history.
