Biographical Sketch of Moses Brown, Jr.

Moses Brown, Jr., born June 22, 1831, in Indiana, moved to Missouri with his family at eight years old. After buying land at sixteen, he became a farmer and later ventured into the livery business in Gallatin in 1871. He was married three times, fathering six children with his first wife, Jane Cline. His second wife, Rebecca Nichols, passed away before he married Elsie Ballard, with whom he has a son. Brown is also active in the Methodist Episcopal Church South and the I.O.O.F.
