Biography of Owen E. Jones

Owen E. Jones, born January 31, 1862, in Murdock Township, became a prominent merchant after establishing his business in 1893. Educated at a commercial college, he partnered with Percy Welliver in 1899. Married to Nora B. Dever in 1894, he was active in the Modern Woodmen and the Methodist Church. His brother, William Jones, also a notable figure in Murdock, engaged in grain buying and hotel management, contributing significantly to the local economy. Their father, Abram Jones, was an early settler in Douglas County.

McQueen, George Dallas – Obituary

George Dallas McQueen passed away on December 2, 1918, at the age of 74, following a battle with cancer. Born on May 4, 1844, he married Frances McQueen in 1872 and had five children, four of whom predeceased him. After his wife’s death over two decades prior, he lived with his daughter, Mrs. Cutsinger. His funeral was held at Wesley Chapel and he was buried in Albin Cemetery, leaving behind one daughter, three grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and many relatives and friends.
