Biographical Sketch of Dr. William James Johnston
Dr. William James Johnston was born on September 11, 1866, in Minesing, Canada. He graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1889 and began his veterinary practice in Tillsonburgh, later relocating to Geneva, New York, where he partnered with Dr. Newell D. Backus in 1905. A Republican and member of the Presbyterian church, he married Amy Elizabeth Ostrander in 1891, and they had four children: Hazel, Lee, Zayde, and Reginald.
