Biography of William R. Marks
William R. Marks, born on July 27, 1852, in Naples, New York, received a comprehensive education at various institutions including the Naples Academy. He engaged in the general merchandise business in several locations, notably Middlesex and Canandaigua. A Republican, he held numerous political positions, including county clerk and postmaster. Marks was active in community organizations and the First Methodist Church. He was married twice, first to Imogene Knapp, with whom he had three children, and later to Cora Henry in 1899.
