Genealogy of Garriot K. Broyles
The Broyles family, originating from northwestern Germany, traces its lineage back to the 14th century. John Broyles settled in Culpepper, Virginia, in 1717, marking the family’s arrival in America. Garriot K. Broyles, born circa 1810 in Virginia, married Eunice V. Wayman and later Martha A. Batton. The family moved to Shelby County, Illinois, around 1858. Garriot, a cabinetmaker, had several children, contributing significantly to the Broyles legacy. He died in Indiana between February and June 1895, while his widow passed after 1896.
