Biography of Michael Goldwater

Michael Goldwater was a significant early businessman in Arizona, arriving in 1860 and establishing a thriving trading and forwarding business in La Paz. He played a crucial role in the development of local infrastructure, including managing the first mill at the Vulture Mine. In 1870, he founded the town of Ehrenberg and later opened Phoenix’s first substantial store. Goldwater also engaged in freighting and served as Prescott’s mayor in the 1880s. He retired in 1883, leaving a lasting legacy through his sons, who continued his business endeavors.
