Ada C. Cooke, 89, formerly of 103 S. Clark in Kittitas, died Friday at Haven House Nursing Home [died May 22, 1981]. She was born in Lincoln, Neb. on Aug. 3, 1891. She came to Ellensburg from Cle Elum in 1905 with brother Orval and her father, A. E. Rich. The family worked first for the Barnharts and later rented the property northeast of Ellensburg known as the Smyth Panhandle Ranch. She and Edward V. Cooke were married in 1908. A private funeral service will be conducted in the Honeycutt-Evenson Chapel Thursday afternoon, October 4, at 2 o’clock for Mrs. Bonnie Gage Bradford, 33, fatally shot here Saturday [September 29, 1951]. Burial in IOOF Cemetery will follow. Surviving relatives of the deceased include: her mother, Mrs. George Ferguson, and a daughter, Sandra Marie Bayers, 13, both of Route 2, Ellensburg; her father, J. G. Michels, Henry – Obituary

Henry J. Michels, 69, Kittitas valley pioneer and widely known Westside farmer, died at the Valley General Hospital yesterday afternoon [died October 12, 1943]. Born in St. James, Minn., he came to the valley with his parents in 1882 and had resided here 61 years. He was educated in the Ellensburg schools and was married here May 22, 1900, to Miss Anna Olding, likewise a member of an early pioneer valley family. Mabel Kinkade, 86, a long-time resident of Kittitas County, died Tuesday November 10, 1981 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was born in Ellensburg, Washington on October 27, 1907, a daughter of William Thomas and Margaret Olive (Ferguson) Montgomery. Hallie’s mother’s family arrived in the Kittitas Valley in 1872, crossing Snoqualmie Pass in wagons and on horseback. Following closely in death his wife and a son, E. G. Grindrod, Kittitas Valley pioneer, died at his home on East Capitol Avenue this morning. Eighty-four at the time of his death, Mr. Grindrod came to the valley as a young man and spent the remainder of his life here. He farmed for many years before retiring to make his home in the city.
