Dorse D. Schnebly, long time valley rancher, passed away early today February 21, 1967 at the Kittitas Valley Memorial Hospital. He was 81. He was born Feb. 2, 1886 in Walla Walla and came to the Kittitas Valley at the age of 2 with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Schnebly. Mr. Schnebly married the former Stella Barnhart Nov. 16, 1910 and they made their home and ranched in the Fairview District until his retirement in 1962. Her death following that of her husband, Elmer E. Stickney, by a little more than a month, Mrs. May Stickney, 70- year-old Kittitas County pioneer, passed away at her home here last night [July 5, 1934] following a lingering illness. Mr. Stickney died on May 29. Mrs. Stickney was born February 10, 1864, at Oregon City, Oregon, and came to the Kittitas Valley in 1892. May 2 of that year she was married to Mr. Stickney. Norma Prater, 91, former Hanson Road resident, died Wednesday [February 14, 1979] at a local nursing home. She was born June 28, 1887, in Leadville, Colo. She was awarded a scholarship in the field of medicine, science or law to the University of Colorado at Denver, but was unable to accept the scholarship and went into teaching for several years prior to her marriage. She came to Ellensburg in 1908 from Colorado, and she and Jess Prater were married in Ellensburg on Feb. 14, 1915. Death Take Mrs. Laura Wheeler 88, Valley Pioneer Came Here by Ox Team in ’71. Death this morning took one of the oldest pioneers of Yakima County, Mrs. Laura E. Wheeler, 88, in Sorensen Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Wheeler died of complications of old age after having been in the hospital seven weeks. Mrs. Wheeler was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Mrs. Leona E. McGlothlen, 89, of 1004 S. 3rd Ave., Yakima, died Monday [May 26, 1975] in Madison Fountains Convalescent Center. Mrs. McGlothlen was born in Smith Center, Kan. She moved to Yakima when she was 10. She was married to Purdy McGlothlen when she was 19. He died in July 1937. She was the last surviving charter member of the Yakima Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mrs. Nettie Churchill [w/o Alfred Churchill], mother of Mrs. Chester Cook, died Sunday night [February 16, 1914] at the home of her daughter in the Southeast part of the valley. Mrs. Churchill was 53 years old and had been sick for some time. The funeral was held from the Methodist Church, Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Nathan, pastor of the church conducted the services. Mrs. Eliza Ann Fetters, 78, died this morning [January 1, 1918] at 8:30 o’clock at her home. Mrs. Fetters was born in Illinois and came to Kittitas County in 1883, having lived here ever since. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Estella M. Elliott of Seattle and Mrs. Orland Thorp, of Twin Falls, Idaho; five sons, Carl B., Horatio S., Freeman, Joe and Ernest Fetters. Ira Stillwell Dies In General Hospital Ira Stillwell died Thursday afternoon at 12:30 at the Ellensburg hospital, following an illness of several week’s duration. In an attempt to save his life a blood transfusion was made Tuesday but he failed to rally. Mr. Stillwell was born may 17, 1887 in Bowen, Illinois, and came to Ellensburg in January, 1903. He became an employe of the Northern Pacific railroad, April 23, 1908 and worked as a wiper until August 3, 1908, when he was promoted to fireman. William Bender, a 71-year-old bachelor farmer of the Menastash Canyon District, died in his bed sometime Wednesday night or Thursday morning. Eugene King, a hired man, told the sheriff’s deputies and assistant prosecuting attorney Philip A. Davidson that he was in the habit of sleeping with Mr. Bender and arose at the customary hour Thursday morning, watered and fed the stock and started breakfast. Jess Ferrier, 67, well known retired Ellensburg contractor, died in a local hospital [October 6, 1948] yesterday afternoon. He had been in failing health for some time. A resident of Ellensburg nearly half a century, Ferrier came here in 1901. He was engaged in the construction and house-moving business for many years. Mrs. Ferrier died four years ago. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Stella McDebitt of Spokane. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Jess C. Prater, 90, died Friday [February 28, 1975] at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital. A native son of pioneer parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Prater, he was born Dec. 24, 1884 on his parents’ farm on the Westside. A farmer all his life, he ranched on the Hanson Road for many years.
