Death Take Well-Known Resident Oscar Mcewen Oscar (Ott) McEwen, well-known Ellensburg resident, died Sunday at the Kittitas Valley Memorial Hospital. He was 89 years old [died June 4, 1967]. McEwen was one of the last true cowboys in the northwest, and the familiar scene of McEwen astride his horse, riding through town, was a common-place occurrence. He was for many years a rider at the Ellensburg Rodeo and participated in many of the early events at the rodeo. He still made an annual appearance at the show. Rose Morrison, 86, longtime Ellensburg resident, died Wednesday August 28, 1985 at Royal Vista Care Center. She was born in Missoula, Mont., on Aug. 16, 1899, and moved to the Ellensburg area at age 8 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Quincy A. Davis. She attended local schools and started to work for the Ellensburg Telephone Co. when she was 15. Peder Pedersen, 76, a Kittitas Valley pioneer, died in the Swedish Hospital in Seattle last night [May 25, 1941] after an illness of about a week. Leo F. Wippel, 43-year-old native of Ellensburg, died Tuesday [January 18] at his home in Woldale District, apparently the victim of a heart attack. He was the second member of the same family to be taken by death this month. His father, Simon Wippel, died on January 10. Lester V. Cooke, 96, of Ellensburg died Thursday in Kittitas Valley Community Hospital. He was born January 27, 1890, in a house on the banks of Coleman Creek north of Ellensburg. He parents were early Kittitas Valley pioneers Mode and Isabella (Fulton) Cooke. After graduating from Ellensburg High School in 1910, Mr. Cooke entered Washington State College, where he received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture in 1914. Funeral services will be held in the Evenson Chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday for Alfred O. Page, 73, a longtime Park District farmer who died Wednesday [April 15, 1964] at the Ellensburg General Hospital. The Rev. C. M. Strong will officiate. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery. Mr. Page was born in Seattle and married Mary Wooding. Survivors include his wife, three sons, Edwin, Ellensburg, Myron, White Salmon, and Robert, Annette, Alaska; a daughter, Mrs. Viola Christian, Ellensburg, 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The death of Mrs. Catherine Morrison, aged 69, who has lived in the Kittitas Valley for 55 years, occurred today September 24, 1928. Mrs. Morrison leaves a number of friends and relatives in the valley. She is survived by her sons, T. J. Morrison, William Morrison, Abe Morrison, Grant Morrison; her sister, Mrs. Samantha Curtis; her brother, Abe Wheeler, and 11 grandchildren. Edward V. Cooke, 84, long-time Ellensburg resident, died at a local nursing home Wednesday. Born May 4, 1888 in Ellensburg, he was son of pioneer family, Father was C. P.
