M. Winsor editor Mankato Review, has been one of the most prominent men in the county. He was born in Chautauqua County, N. Y., and March 20, 1840. He received only a common school education, yet a thorough one. He removed when eighteen to Illinois with his parents, and when twenty, went alone to Colorado, where he joined the First Colorado Cavalry in 1863, remaining in active service to the close of the war. Edna Mae Stanley, 88, formerly of Baker City, died April 22, 2003, after a long struggle with Lou Gehrig’s disease. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Disposition was by cremation and interment will be at River View Cemetery. Edna Mae Dick was born Jan. 18, 1915, near Mankato, Kan., to May and John Dick. Capt. John W. Enoch, farmer, P. O. Mankato, was born in Ohio, October 4, 1825. Removed to Northern Indiana, thence to Northwestern Missouri. The George S. Bishop, second member of the firm of Case, Bishop & Heron, was born in Butler County, Ohio. He was a soldier in the United States Army; enlisted in Company A, One Hundred and Sixty-second Ohio Volunteer Infantry.
