Biography of Francis L. Wilcox

Francis L. Wilcox, born on April 1, 1840, in Jackson, Pennsylvania, was a Civil War veteran who became a pioneer settler in Preston, Oneida County. After serving in the Fifty-eighth Pennsylvania Infantry and later in the One Hundred and Eighty-fifth New York Infantry, he returned home in 1865. Wilcox engaged in farming, contributing significantly to the local community after moving west in 1877. He married Secor, raising a family and cultivating a successful farm while remaining committed to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Republican Party.
