Herbert Franklin Couch, born in February 1875 in Italy, Texas, was educated locally before marrying Ida May Coker in March 1896 in Coodys Bluff. Together, they had eight children, including Victor and Elmer. An affluent oil and gas producer, Couch is also a member of the Knights of the Pythias fraternity, and currently resides in Nowata. Biographical Sketch of Mrs. G. W. Milam

Sarah Ellen Couch, born in Texas on October 17, 1863, was educated within the state and at the Cherokee Nation’s Female Seminary. She married William Guinn Milam on October 20, 1881, who was a prominent local figure and served as County Commissioner from 1907 to 1910. They had eight children, including Charles, who was killed in action during World War I. The Milams were known for their community involvement and dedication to public welfare, exemplifying a commitment to civic responsibility.
