Lois Butts Britton, 88, of Baker City, passed away on June 23, 2002, in Gillette, Wyoming. Born Lois Victoria Wilson on August 27, 1913, in Richland, she graduated from Eagle Valley High School in 1932. Lois had a diverse life as a pack string operator, tax collector, postmaster, and shop owner, while raising her family. An active individual, she embraced new experiences throughout her life. She is survived by her husband, Chuck, and numerous family members. Memorial services were held in Baker City and Gillette.

Mrs. Vera Louise Storie Powell – Obituary

Vera Louise Storie Powell, age 104, passed away on August 15, 2001, in Baker City, Oregon. Her funeral will be held at Gray’s West Co. Pioneer Chapel, with interment at Mount Hope Cemetery. Born on March 28, 1897, in Durkee and raised in a family of seven, she taught briefly before marrying Warren B. Powell in 1917. The couple navigated hardships during the Great Depression and led a nomadic life until establishing a home in Baker City, where they celebrated many anniversaries. She is survived by her daughters and numerous grandchildren.
