Biographical Sketch of John J. Caster
John J. Caster, born on July 9, 1822, in Homer County, Ohio, was the son of McDonnell and Sarah Haley Caster. He spent his early years on his father’s farm before pursuing a career in carpentry while also engaging in farming and stock-raising. In 1856, he moved to Gentry County, Missouri, where he initially acquired land before focusing on his trade. Caster served in the militia during the Civil War and later settled in Sheridan Township, where he married Eliza W. Allen and adopted three children.
