Biographical Sketch of Dolphin Stephenson

Dolphin Stephenson, born in 1812 in Galen, New York, was the son of Harvey Stephenson. He moved to Phelps with his father and had a distinguished legal career, becoming the oldest attorney in the county by his death in 1883. He served many years as postmaster and was a member of the assembly. Appointed by the government, he represented the U.S. at Panama and spent part of his life in California. He married Jennie Porter, who passed away in Phelps.
