Compton, Moses – Obituary
Moses D. Compton, aged fifty-nine, was discovered deceased in his bed on July 19, 1919, by his wife at their home near Edinburg, Johnson County. Attending races the previous day, he likely succumbed to a stroke, as noted by the county coroner. Originally from Selby County, Compton had recently moved to Edinburg after living on a farm near Fairland. He was survived by two of his seven children, his second wife Anna Bills, and a sister. His strong character endeared him to many.
