Helen Alford, the daughter of Eugene Albert Houck and Doris Francis Houck, was born on Nov. 5, 1930 in Enterprise. She grew up in the Zumwalt area of Wallowa County. In 1949, she married Glen Emory Alford of Joseph. During their lives together they lived in Wallowa County, Baker City and the Willamette Valley. She was born April 22, 1904, at Joseph, the daughter of John and Bessie (Halsey) Simmons. On April 21, 1921, she married Ernest E. Quinn, at Enterprise. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1967.
