Ervin Harris

Private 1st Class Ervin Harris served in Battery F, 317th Regiment of the 81st Division, hailing from Edgecomb County. He entered military service on May 30, 1918, and was stationed at Camp Jackson, South Carolina. He sailed to Europe on August 25, 1918, and was promoted to 1st Class Private in October. After serving overseas, he returned to the United States on April 20, 1919, and was mustered out at Camp Lee, Virginia, on June 8, 1919.

M. D. Calhoun

M. D. Calhoun, a bugler in the 317th Field Artillery, Battery E, was born in Edgecomb County to B. W. Calhoun and his wife. He entered military service on May 28, 1918, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and trained at Camp Jackson before moving to Camp Mills. Calhoun sailed for France on August 10, 1918, and returned to the United States on June 7, 1919, where he was mustered out at Camp Lee on June 20, 1919.

Henry C. Bourne

2nd Lt. Henry C. Bourne, of Edgecomb County and the son of H. C. and Maria L. Bourne, began his military service on May 28, 1918, in Tarboro, North Carolina. He was initially stationed at Camp Jackson, South Carolina, before being transferred to Camp Gordon, Georgia. He achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on January 15, 1919, and was mustered out the same day at Camp Gordon.

E. E. Baker

E. E. Baker, a 1st Sergeant in the Medical Supply Depot of the 117th Ambulance Company, served during World War I. Born to John W. and M. Henrietta Baker in Edgecomb County, he enlisted on September 5, 1917, at Tarboro. After training at Camp Jackson and Camp Sevier, he transitioned from the 105th Sanitary Train to the Medical Supply Department, where he and 15 men distributed medicine across various camps. Baker was mustered out in Greenville, South Carolina, on December 7, 1918.

William M. Barnes

Sergt. M. T. Corps from Edgecomb County, the son of J. H. and Mrs. Ethel M. Barnes, enlisted in the military on June 22, 1918, in Portsmouth, Virginia. He was subsequently stationed in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he completed his service and was mustered out on December 10, 1918.
