Biography of Herman Ehrenberg
Herman Ehrenberg, a German immigrant, played a significant role in the early mining development of Arizona. He enlisted in the Texas War of Independence and later returned to Germany, influencing German settlement in Texas through his writings. After extensive travels, he settled in La Paz, where he engaged in mining operations and contributed to the development of the region’s resources. Renowned for his integrity and expertise in geology and mining, Ehrenberg was also an Indian agent for the Mohaves until his untimely death in 1866 from gunfire, which was believed to involve Native Americans.
