Biography of Hon. H. C. Tipton

Hon. H. C. Tipton, born in 1840 in Tennessee, emerged as a prominent attorney in northwest Arkansas. The youngest of twelve, he had a solid education, graduating from La Grange Commercial College in 1860. Tipton served in the Confederate Army, participating in significant battles before returning to civilian life post-war. He ventured into politics, serving eight years in the Arkansas State Senate and later as the U.S. Registrar of the Land Office in Harrison. A dedicated Democrat, he married Alice Lawrason, and they had seven children.
