Biography of Richard H. Bennett

Richard H. Bennett, born in England on March 19, 1850, immigrated to the United States at eighteen, initially working in Pennsylvania’s coal mines. In 1871, he moved to Idaho, where he engaged in mining and later transitioned to sheep ranching near Mountain Home. Over an eighteen-year career, he has successfully raised Merino sheep, owning up to six thousand at one time, and achieving notable financial success. A family man with seven children, Bennett is also involved in local politics and community organizations.

Henderson, Caroline Vivian – Obituary

Caroline Vivian Henderson, 92, of Forest Grove, passed away on October 2. Born on December 18, 1916, in Idaho, she excelled academically, graduating as valedictorian and later cum laude from The College of Idaho. After marrying Athol R. Sayre in 1939 and raising five children, she earned a master’s degree and taught English and library science. Following retirement, she enjoyed gardening, reading, and quilting. Caroline was preceded in death by her husband in 2001. A celebration of her life is planned for November.
