Svetich, Steve Matthew – Obituary

Steve Matthew Svetich, 89, of Portland, formerly of La Grande, passed away on November 16. Born on April 27, 1917, in Bingham Canyon, Utah, he moved to La Grande at 12, graduated high school, and served in the Army during World War II. After relocating to Portland in 1946 and marrying Mary Ann Mehalovich in 1952, he enjoyed a long career at Safeway Stores before retiring in 1982. He is survived by his wife, four children, and five grandchildren. A Mass will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church.

Talbott, Mary Ann – Obituary

Mary Ann Talbott, aged 92, passed away on February 2 at a care center in La Grande, Oregon. Born on September 27, 1914, in Bingham Canyon, Utah, she was the daughter of Matthew and Matilda Svetich. Mary Ann was married to William Edward Talbott in 1935 and had one daughter, Virginia, who predeceased her. A member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, she enjoyed family time, fishing, and camping. She is survived by her brother, stepsisters, and numerous relatives.
