William G. Callow Sr., 80, of Baker City, died Feb. 2, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Health Services. His funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. The Rev. Julian Cassar of St. Francis de Sales will officiate. Louise Nolan Mack, 83, of Palm Desert, Calif., a former Baker City resident, died Oct. 4, 2007. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Francis of Assisi Chapel in La Quinta, Calif. Louise was born March 26, 1924, at Huntington to Belinda Perfetti. In the early 1940s she married Jack Nolan. They had one son, Jay. Jack died in 1987. In December 1989, Louise married John C. Mack in Baker City. Thomas A. Johnson of Baker and formerly of La Grande, died Saturday after noon at St. Elizabeth nursing home. He was 90. Mr. Johnson was a roundhouse foreman for the Union Pacific Railroad and retired in 1960 at La Grande. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of Our lady of the Valley Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Virginia Johnson of Mobile, Ala.; a grandson, Scott Johnson of New York and a granddaughter, Susan Johnson of Florida. Michael Joseph Supnet, 24, of Spokane, Wash., and Yakima, Wash., died Oct. 4, 2004, in a one-vehicle accident at Halfway. Steven Wayne Duvall, 37, of Greeley, Colo., died July 13, 2004, at his home. His funeral was July 17, 2004 at the Harvest Time Tabernacle with military honors by the Greeley Veterans of Foreign War in Evans, Colorado. Steve was born on Nov. 22, 1966, at Altus Air Force Base, Okla., to Clifford R. Duvall and Karen Lee Wiles. He received his education at the Berlin High School, Wisconsin, and in 1863 came west to Montana as a gold-seeker. Chester William “Bill” Gardner Jr., 87, of Washougal, Wash., whose name was familiar in the logging enterprise throughout Baker County, died Aug. 22, 2005, at his home after an extended battle with cancer. Death came to Edward W. Coles, 103 year old retired Haines cattleman and one time Oregon livestock industry leader, at McMinnville, Tuesday, January 5. He passed away about three months after actively participating in his 103rd birthday anniversary party there early in October. Funeral is scheduled for Saturday, January 9, 1982, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Haines. Interment will follow in the Haines Cemetery. Gordon E.VanCleave Sr., 78, of Mount Vernon, a former longtime Baker County resident, died July 2, 2003, at Mount Vernon. He was born on Oct. 16, 1924, at Hereford to Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Maude Williams VanCleave. They moved to the Sumpter junction when he was small and he had lived in Baker County most of his life. He loved to hunt and fish and he loved the mountains and camping. Baker City, Oregon Shirley A. Goff, 71, of Baker City, Ore., passed away at St. Elizabeth Health Care July 25, 2006. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation will be placed at the Eastern Oregon Pioneer Crematory. Shirley was born May 6, 1935, in Baker City to Hazel Masters. She worked for the US West Telephone Company for 32 years. Gray’s West & Company Pioneer Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Huffman was born Sept. 4, 1936, in Joseph. He drove logging trucks for E.T. Carter Logging, Kenny Mills logging and others. Clifford Joe Neeley, 59, of Baker City, died Jan. 3, 2005, at his home. His private memorial service was Tuesday at Coles Funeral Home. Joe was born on Dec. 30, 1945, at Nashville, Tenn., to Clifford Wallace and Frances A. Regg Neeley. He attended school at Nashville and later moved to Washington where he completed his education.
