Milns, Anna Katherine Mueller – Obituary

Long-time Ellensburg resident Anna K. Milns died early Wednesday at a local rest home.She was 89. Born November 26, 1880 at St. James, Minn., she came to the Ellensburg area with her family when she was 2. In 1909 she was marred to Martin Wippel. He died in 1915. In 1930 she married Frank Milns and they moved to Auburn where they resided for 10 years. Following his death in 1941, she returned to Ellensburg where she has since made her home. Cora B. McEwen, 95, retired Ellensburg school teacher, died Sunday [June 30, 1990] in Auburn where she had lived for the past four years. She attended Ellensburg Normal School and Central Washington College of Education. She worked for Dr. Pinckard for a number of years before beginning her 30-year teaching career. Following retirement she served as a private tutor in her home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was active in youth groups for more than 80 years. La Grande, Oregon Eleanor Eunice Smead, 87, of Eugene and formerly of La Grande, died March 5 of age related causes. Arrangements are under the direction of Musgrove Family Mortuary of Eugene. Mrs. Smead was born Dec. 30, 1919, in Auburn, Wash., to Ward and Stella (Magers) O’Neill. She graduated from Auburn High School at the age of 16. Mrs. S. E. Fix, 78, former Pierce County resident, died Tuesday in a hospital at Olympia. She was born at Rockford, Ontario, Canada, and came to the United States with her parents in 1884. The family made its home at Auburn, and prior to her marriage, Mrs. Fix taught in Orting schools. She was married January 28, 1903 at Auburn and for many years the couple made its home at Kapowsin, later moving to Olympia. She had been ill the past few years.
