Biographical Sketch of John Richmond

John Richmond, born in Wiltshire’s Ashton Keynes in 1597, immigrated to America around 1635 and played a key role in the establishment of Taunton, Massachusetts. He engaged in trade and was active in court records from 1636 onward. Richmond owned land in the area that is still known as Richmondtown and served as a commissioner for Newport in 1656. He died in Taunton on March 20, 1664, leaving behind children John, Edward, Sarah, and Mary. His will was proved in 1669.
