Biographical Sketch of Charles Harris

Charles Harris, born on November 19, 1859, in Albion, Illinois, was a prominent university professor. He earned his A.B. from Indiana University in 1879 and a Ph.D. from the University of Leipzig in 1883. After marrying Mary McCalla in 1884, he taught at various institutions, including Southern Illinois State Normal School and Oberlin College, before joining Western Reserve University in 1893. A member of the Modern Language Association and a Phi Beta Kappa, he authored several works on German language and literature.
