Samuel E. Willis Dies At His Shop Baker Merchant and Shoe Man Victim of attack of Apoplexy

Samuel E. Willis, Baker merchant and shoe repairman, died in his shop on Broadway between Second and Third streets Monday Evening shortly after 5 o’clock of apoplexy He had apparently been in good health up to the time of his death.

Mr. Willis operated a shoe store and cobbler shop on the present site of the J.C. Penny company for several years before moving his shop to Broadway. He has been in business in Baker ever since he moved here in 1915.

Mr. Willis was born in Lacona, Warren county, Iowa December 30, 1865 and came to Oregon in 1897. He was married to E. Elizabeth Grandy in Baker July 2, 1918.

The deceased is survived by his widow and a brother Albert A. Willis of Portland. Mrs A.C. Fielitz of The Dalles, daughter of mrs. Willis, arrived here this morning as a result of her step-father’s death.

Funeral services have not been arranged. The body is in the West and Company Funeral Parlor
