Word has been received here of the death of Mr. T. P. Morrow of Swedesburg which occurred Thursday afternoon, Jan. 4th [1906] at three o’clock after a long illness of paralysis. He has been a resident of Henry County for many years and his many friends will be grieved to learn of his death. He is survived by a family of seven children, all of whom live in this county with the exception of one daughter. He is also an uncle of Mr. John Morrow of this city. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Cookes Funeral home for the late Lemuel F. Logsdon of near Mt. Pleasant, Ia. The Rev. Thorwald Jensen, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, was in charge. A vocal duet “We are Going Down the Valley,” was sung by Robt. Forbes and Rev. Jensen. Two vocal solos were also sung by Mr. Forbes. Emma Jane Logsdon, 87, died Wednesday afternoon at the Collatt Nursing Home after a long illness. A daughter of Tillman and Rebecca (Allender) Morrow, she was born September 3, 1868 in Henry County near Olds. She had been a lifelong resident of Henry County. Dennis D. Combs, 76, of Burlington, died at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at his son’s home in Burlington. Born Feb. 28, 1929 in New London, he was the son of Earl and Ina Morrow Combs. This section of Iowa lost one of its best women on Sunday, March 5, 1922, when Mrs. George Allender died at her home four miles north of Lockridge. She was sick but a little while with her fatal illness which was heart trouble, though she had been afflicted with weakness of the heart for several years. Largely attended funeral services were held Friday for the late George Allender, who passed away at the home of his son, Lawrence, north of Lockridge, on November 13. At ten-thirty a short service was held at the house. Pastor Frank Weston of the First Baptist Church, Mt. B. B. Allender, an old citizen of this county, died at his home near the southeast corner of Trenton township on last Thursday evening [June 22, 1882].
