Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Cookes Funeral home for the late Lemuel F. Logsdon of near Mt. Pleasant, Ia. The Rev. Thorwald Jensen, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, was in charge.
A vocal duet “We are Going Down the Valley,” was sung by Robt. Forbes and Rev. Jensen. Two vocal solos were also sung by Mr. Forbes. They were “Under His Wings” and “Abide With Me.” Miss Judith Peterson was the accompanist.
Rev. Jensen then spoke on the subject. “The Christian Conception of the Transition Known as Death.” Several passages from the writings of Paul were cited as proof texts.
Lemuel F. Logsdon was the son of James and Martha Mitts Logsdon. He was born near Mt. Pleasant, June 20, 1872. He passed away on October 21, 1938 at his home where he had lived for the past twenty-three years. He was united in marriage to Miss Emma Morrow on January 27, 1908.
Mr. Logsdon is survived by his wife, one brother, Clay Logsdon of Mt. Pleasant and a sister, Mrs. Gilbert [Lillie] McClaran of near Fairfield. Mr. Logsdon was a kind and devoted husband; a good neighbor, and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He loved his home and spent most of his time at home.
The pallbearers were John Lane, Leonard West, Ray Brown, Carl Barnes, D. F. Ridinger and Lee Lyons. Burial was in the Richwoods Cemetery.
