Coffman, Isaac – Obituary

Isaac Coffman, a veteran of the rebellion, died at his home in Montmorenci yesterday morning [June 2, 1895] at 10 o’clock of dropsy, aged 65 years. He leaves a large family of grown children to mourn his death. The funeral will be conducted from the residence this morning at 10 o’clock, Rev. H. H. Dunlavy officiating. Coffman, George Washington – Obituary

George Coffman died at his home in Montmorenci at 10 o’clock Wednesday night [May 12, 1926]. He suffered a stroke of apoplexy a few days ago. Mr. Coffman was 70 years old and was employed as a laborer. His wife died 20 years ago. Surviving are three sons, and a daughter, Job Coffman of Lafayette, Lonnie and Arthur Coffman and Mrs. Lyda German all of Montmorenci. Edson R. Bowman, 64, who had lived in Sturgis and vicinity for the past 40 years, was the victim of a heart attack last night [August 7, 1944] on the Charles Seeb farm. Death, which occurred at eight o’clock, came after Mr. Bowman had desperately worked to prevent a grass fire from spreading on his farm two miles from Sturgis on South Nottawa Road. Frank Athol Bowman, 65, died Sunday [March 25, 1951] afternoon in the Sturgis Memorial Hospital in Sturgis, where he had been admitted for treatment Saturday. He had been ill a long time. Mrs. Dorcas Bowman, 83, passed away this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edith Barnell, 504 North Prospect Street, after being ill for a period of seven weeks. William E. Cropper, 76 years old, died at 5:30 o’clock Saturday evening [May 2, 1936] while sitting in a chair at his home in Flat Rock. Dr. William R. Tindall, county coroner, stated that death was due to cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Cropper had been in failing health for several months. Phillip W. Fix was born in Decatur County, Indiana, in 1835, and died at his home in Orting, January 16, 1924, aged 89. William Ormsby, Jr. aged 24, died at his home seven miles northeast of here this morning [August 8, 1912]. His demise was caused by blood poisoning resulting from a slight scratch which he received while working on his farm Tuesday.
