  3. Hi! My name is Angela Swiney/Swinney. Tilden Swinney is my great grandpa and we was married to a Ratliff. Then James Swinney was married to a Ratliff as well. It looks like I am from William Ratliff then Nathan Ratliff. My family is from Pike County Kentucky. Wonder if we are related! I know I have been doing a lot of research!

  4. I’m descended from an Eliza Ratliff who was married to a James D. Ratliff. They resided in Lawrence Co., Indiana and they had several offspring. According to my maternal grandfather she was Native American. I do NOT know which Native American tribe she was a member of and I’m trying to find out. I know that I’m 1/8 Native American because of her. I am also 1/8 Native American due to the paternal side of my family (William Green b. 1924) and they claim it is of Cherokee descent also. I’m the outcast of the family and have nobody to ask about these things. It has been many years since I’ve even heard about my Native American heritage from the older folks who would know. I’ve tried diligently to discover the parentage of my maternal Great-grandmother to no avail. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    • I am direct descendent of the Ratliff/Coker/Pusley Line. I have several generations of complete info including many photos and even a first hand account of a Choctaws life from late 1700’s to after the Trail of Tears.
