John Roberton “Jack” Thomson, 76, of Baker City, died Sept. 11, 2009, at Idlewood Manor. His memorial service will be scheduled later. Jack was born on April 1, 1933, at Oakland, Calif., to John Sr. and Constance McMannis Thomson. Jack attended Oakland High School, graduating in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 in the Army Signal Corps as a corporal. Jack worked for Qwest as a lineman until his retirement in 1989.
