Royster, Peter – Obituary

Peter Royster was born Feb. 22, 1837 in Green county, Illinois and died March 6th, 1918 being 81 years and 12 days of age. While still a child his parents moved with him to Iowa. During the civil war he served his country for two years and four months in the 16th Iowa Regiment. On April 6th, 1866 he was united in marriage to May O. Sanford. To them were born three children of whom preceded them to the great beyond. With their two children they moved to Colorado during the early years of their married life. Mr. Royster has given his life to the west and is numbered among its pioneers.

Mrs. Royster preceded her husband three years ago into the realms beyond. Mr. Royster has been an invalid for several years. He rests from his labors and pains. He was ready and anxious to go. Two children, S.R. Royster of Lostine and Mrs. Jno. Leaky of Mikkleson N.D. and twelve grandchildren mourn his going.

Funeral services were held from the Christian church on Friday, March 8th, conducted by Rev. Bogue and interment made in Lostine cemetery.
