Charles W. Wilson, editor and proprietor of the Tuscola Review, was born fourteen miles west of Plainfield, Indiana, February 15, 1856, and in 1865 located in Tuscola. Mr. Wilson was united in marriage to Miss Christina Cosler, a daughter of the late Isaac Cosler.
T. W. Swigart, the leading harness dealer and one of the most successful business men in Newman and Douglas County, was born in Carroll County, Maryland, in sight of A Westminister, July 3, 1831, and was a son of Joseph Swigart. Isaac Skinner was born in Vermillion County, Indiana, January 5, 1829, and is a son of Joseph Skinner, who was among the earliest settlers in the neighborhood of Newman, coming, in 1839, from Vermillion County, Indiana, and settling along the timber a mile and a half southwest of where Newman now is. There were no schools in the vicinity when he first came to the County. He worked for his father until of age and then engaged in farming on rented land. Ira M. Mulliken, junior member of the well-known firm of Barr & Mulliken and one of the rising young business men of Newman, was born in Champaign County, Illinois, December 17, 1865. His father, James W. Mulliken, was a native of Johnson County, Indiana, and removed to Champaign County in about 1852. His mother Catherine was a daughter of Rev. Samuel F. Henry Clay Jones, the affable and genial treasurer of Douglas County, was born in Franklin County, Indiana, December 2, 1842, a son of Calvin and Hannah (Case) Jones. He was reared to manhood in his native County and in 1860 removed to Douglas County. In 1862 he joined Company K, Seventy-ninth Illinois Infantry, and served as a private soldier in the Civil war until June 12, 1865, when he was honorably discharged at Nashville, Tennessee. His wife was Marry Miller, of Kentucky, and they had William H., Eliza, James, Isabella, George, Rebecca, Mary, and Christian, Jr., most of whom have families, and live in Audrain and Montgomery counties.
Jonathan Ingram married Barbara Mennefee, of Virginia, and settled in Logan Co., Ky. Their children were Rhoda, Jonas, Samuel, Garrett, James, Anna, Polly, and Barsheba. Garrett married Nancy Hudson, and settled in Pike Co., Mo., in 1818. Their children were Polly, John, Barbara, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Samuel, Nancy, and Sally. Rhoda Ingram settled in Indiana, and James and Polly in Illinois.

They are the parents of Verdie Ansell, born April 12, 1883, is a Mason and Woodman of the World, married Ethel Sutton; Bernice Gordon, born April 5, 1885; Dudley Martin, born October 18, 1888, married Flo Waybrigh and Otto Erick Gamble, born March 11, 1901.
Lucas Leslie, son of Timothy Carpenter and Rosella (Holloway) Merritt, was born in Indiana May 10, 1888 and educated in that State. Married at Talala Nov. 6, 1910, Mary Jane, daughter of Charles and Cynthia (Bible) Robinson, born October 4, 1890. Mr. Merritt is the Ford agent at Talala.
Thomas J. Flint was born on a farm near Brookville, Franklin county, Indiana, on the 4th day of August, 1835. His parents removed to Daviess county when he was six years of age, and settled upon a farm in what is now Washington township, where he lived and grew up, receiving a good common school education, attending the common schools of the, township and the select school at Miami, in Saline county.
