Lostine, Oregon
June E. Hamblet, 74, died March 24, 2005, at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. She was born June 10, 1930 to Roy and Theo Tatro Cook in Lostine. She grew up and attended school in Wallowa County. Mrs. Hamblet married Harold Hamblet and they lived in Wallowa County for several years, and lived in other locations throughout Oregon, Idaho and Nevada, before settling in a home along the John Day River near Service Creek 13 years ago.
Mrs. Hamblet enjoyed music, rodeos, crossword puzzles, fishing, cattle and horses, and mostly enjoyed family gatherings. Survivors include her husband, Harold Hamblet; daughters Judy Volquardsen and her husband Jim of Metaline Falls, Wash., Linda Bristow and her husband John of Ione, and Judy Horton and her husband Warren of Wallowa; son Dwight Ambrose of La Grande; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and brother Robert Cook of Portland.
A memorial service will be held April 9 at the Isabel Edwards Hall in Fossil. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. Sweeney Mortuary of Condon is in charge of arrangements.
