Goebel, Gertrude Anna Huber
Gertrude Anna Huber was born in Wisconsin, September 14, 1862, where she spent her childhood and in 1881 was united in marriage to Peter Goebel. Four children were born in Wisconsin. In 1888 the family came to Wallowa County settling above Lostine on what is known as the Collins place. They later moved to their present home on Bear Creek where on Friday, January 14, 1921, she passed on at the age of 58 years 4 months.
There were 10 children in all, seven boys and three girls. Two of the boys preceded their mother into the Great Beyond, Robert at the age of three years and Frank at the age of eight months. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, Peter Goebel; three daughters, Mrs. Maggie (Calvin) Hetrick, Mrs. Mary (Fred) Rich, and Mrs. Christina (Murland) Waelty, all of Wallowa; five sons, William, Charles, and Edwin all of Wallowa, John of Snake River and Lawrence of Klamath Falls; also a brother, John Huber, of Milton, Oregon.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning and interment was made in Wallowa Cemetery.
