Robert W. Nicol, 93, former Ellensburg resident and Wilson Creek area farmer, died Thursday in Yakima. Funeral services will be Monday, 2 P.M., at Evenson’s Chapel. A complete obituary will appear in a later edition.

Robert W. Nicol, 93 former Ellensburg resident and Wilson Creek farmer, died Thursday, June 07, 1973 in Yakima, where he had lived for the past three years. He was born in Scotland, Feb. 1, 1880, and came to the United States in 1900.
In 1901 he settled in the Colockum area where he homesteaded for many years and ran wild horses. He furnished horses for the first Ellensburg rodeo.
He married Leva Blair Johnston at Ellensburg in 1922. They established a farm on Wilson Creek in 1925 and in 1942 moved to Whidby Island, where he worked as a fireman at Fort Eby, during world War II.
Upon his retirement they returned to Ellensburg in 1946. Mrs. Nicol died in March, 1956.
He moved to Renton several years ago, and for the past six years he has resided in convalescent homes.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Hinkle, of Madras Ore., and Mrs. Dorothy Buroker, of Renton; and stepdaughter, Mrs. Lucille Lundstrom of Ellensburg; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Services will be Monday, 2 P.M. at Evenson Chapel with Rev. A. William Dietz officiating. Burial will be at the I.O.O..F. cemetery.
