Peyron, Henry Louis – Obituary

Henry Louis Peyron, 87, a former Baker City resident, died May 2, 2001, at Hemet, Calif.

His memorial service was May 10 at Trinity Lutheran Church at Hemet. Cremation and burial was at the Riverside National Cemetery at Riverside, Calif.

Mr. Peyron was born at Emburn, France, on Feb. 2, 1914, to Henry Benjamin and Louise Marie. He was the oldest of five children.

He attended school at Sunnyslope School, No. 69, and Baker High School. He graduated from Gonzaga College at Spokane, Wash., and entered the U.S. Army in 1943.

He married Enid Voight in 1948 and they had two children, Marlene and Wayne; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Peyron’s life work was as a civilian engineer for the Navy Department except for a four-year period in the 1960s when he returned to Baker City with his family to work on the family ranch.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Gaston; and a sister, Rose.
