I have been researching the War Between the States war veterans from and buried in Australia for a long time. Before my wife passed away we documented and found over 550 veterans, many of them Confedeate. I have not done any since she died in 2019, but a lady contacted me the other day with a new one; from Mississippi. I have attached a picture of him. Can anyone identify the uniform he is wearing? I have never seen a Confederate uniform like it. His name was John Hendrick Horne, Jr and he served in the 13th Regiment Mississippi Infantry of the Confederate States Army and was assigned to Company “B”. Military records also record him as J. H. “Hurn”. I am building a story on him, but need any information I can get on his personal and family life. If you can help it would help a lot. I want to find his grave and get him a headstone. I have acquired about 40 headstones for veterans here to date. On April 1, 1861, at 21 years of age, John Hendrick Horne, Jr enlisted as a Private into the 13th Regiment Mississippi Infantry and later migrated to Australia. His parents were John Hendrick Horne and Mary McCall Everett from Matherville, Wayne County, Mississippi. He was one of seven children. Would be nice if you could help. When I’m done I’ll send you everything on him. I’ve been in touch with his 4th great grand daughter.

Searching for my Great Great Grandfather (David William DuBose Jr.)
David William DuBose was born on April 15, 1818, in Jackson, Mississippi. He had one son with Deborah Ann Rouse in 1853. He died on July 20, 1902, in his hometown, having lived a long life of 84 years. …. or ANY of my relatives that might have served
Seeking information on Private Benjamin McNinch enlisted in 3rd Mississippi Infantry Regiment, Company C.
Searching for any information you have on a Pvt. Daniel Dykes, Co. G, 27th Mississippi Infantry. Died 31 Oct. 1862. Last muster roll shows “Absent, sick in Hospital” in Kentucky. Was he wounded at Perryville? Where is he buried? Any information you have would be appreciated.
I am looking for information about soldiers from Quitman County. I cannot figure out which companies they may have served in. Can you help?
Your history of Stanford’s Mississippi Battery is incorrect. I have copies of four diaries and two groups of letters.
