Lena Fisher, 84 was member,
Pioneer Muddy Creek Family

Born near Haines in 1887; leaves three grown children

Funeral services for Lena M. Fisher, 84, of Haines, lifetime Haines area was conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec 20, 1971 at Grays West and Co. Pioneer Chapel. The Rev. James H. Soden of the Calvery Baptist Church officiated. Interment followed at the family plot in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Fisher passed away early Thursday morning at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home after an extended illness.

Mrs. Fisher was born Nov. 20, 1887 at Haines, the daughter of J.O. and Nancy Hand Maxwell. She was a graduate of Muddy Creek high school and of Linfield College. She married her husband, Calvin K. Fisher, in 1909 and he preceded her in death in 1948.

She was a lifetime resident of Haines and Baker County except for several years when she was a house mother at Linfield College. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, John and James Fisher of Vancouver, WA., one daughter, Mrs. John Rhodes of Scarsdale, N.Y.; three brothers, Omer Maxwell and Glenn Maxwell of Haines, and Bill Maxwell of McMinnville; three sisters, Rose Bishop of Nevada, Myrtle Potter, and Olga Ward both of Haines; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one son, Charles Fisher and three brothers, John, Wallace and Dewey Maxwell.

Friends who desired to make a memorial gift contributed to St. Elizabeth Nursing Home Memorial Fund. This may still be done at Grays West and Co.
