Joseph Carroll Schnebly, 67, of Ellensburg, died Sunday [February 10, 1985] at his home following a brief illness. He was born May 6, 1917, in Ellensburg, the son of the late Joseph Jay and Elizabeth (Barnhart) Schnebly
He was graduated from Ellensburg High School and Washington State University, where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He operated a ranch in the Fairview District until his retirement in 1972
Mr. Schnebly was a past president of the Kittitas County Farm Bureau, and was a member of the Kittitas County Cattlemen’s Association and the county board of tax equalization. He also was a longtime county fire commissioner
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mary Alice (Davis) Schnebly, of Ellensburg; four sons, Joe Schnebly of Selah, John Schnebly of Oklahoma City, Okla., Jay Schnebly of Bellevue, and Mark Schnebly of Spokane; three daughters, Carol Regimbal of Selah, Janet Hattrup of Moxee and Lydia DeFoor of Seattle; two sisters, Lorraine Schnebly of Ellensburg, and Doris Clymer of Jackson , Wyo., and two grandchildren
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Evenson Chapel, with the Rev. Donald Meekhof officiating. Cremation will follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park in Yakima. Viewing will be available for friends until noon Thursday
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, care of Mrs. H. E. Railsback, 202 S. Matthews Road, Ellensburg; to the Kittitas County Historical Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice
