Norma Prater, 91, former Hanson Road resident, died Wednesday [February 14, 1979] at a local nursing home. She was born June 28, 1887, in Leadville, Colo. She was awarded a scholarship in the field of medicine, science or law to the University of Colorado at Denver, but was unable to accept the scholarship and went into teaching for several years prior to her marriage. She came to Ellensburg in 1908 from Colorado, and she and Jess Prater were married in Ellensburg on Feb. 14, 1915. Jess C. Prater, 90, died Friday [February 28, 1975] at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital. A native son of pioneer parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Prater, he was born Dec. 24, 1884 on his parents’ farm on the Westside. A farmer all his life, he ranched on the Hanson Road for many years. Louis Noble, 78, retired mail carrier of the Kittitas Valley, passed away early Wednesday morning [August 27, 1930] following a long illness. He was born June 5, 1852 in Cleveland, Ohio, and was marred to Miss Addie M. Huntley on December 5, 1880. The couple came to this valley in 1908. Mr. Noble was a rural mail carrier–seven years of which were on route one–for over ten years after which he retired to his small valley farm. Mrs. Addie Noble, 78, a resident of Ellensburg since 1908, died Saturday evening [June 14, 1941] here. She had been ill for 10 days. Mrs. Noble was born at LaHarte, Ohio, July 4, 1862. Mrs. Eliza Ann Fetters, 78, died this morning [January 1, 1918] at 8:30 o’clock at her home. Mrs. Fetters was born in Illinois and came to Kittitas County in 1883, having lived here ever since. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Estella M. Elliott of Seattle and Mrs. Orland Thorp, of Twin Falls, Idaho; five sons, Carl B., Horatio S., Freeman, Joe and Ernest Fetters. Cooke, Jay – Obituary

The people of this community were surprised and shocked to learn that Jay Cooke had died Monday [July 22, 1907] night at his home about twelve miles northeast of town. He only took to his bed last Saturday, but he was unable to combat the fearful ailment—gall stones—and passed away as stated. The young man was a native of the valley and few farmers were better known. He was of a genial disposition, industrious and temperate in his habits, and his death is a distinct loss to the community.
