Wanapam Indians
The Wanapam Indians were part of the Shahaptian division within the Shapwailutan linguistic group, closely linked to the Palouse Indians. They inhabited the bend of the Columbia River between Priest Rapids and the Umatilla River. Their population was estimated at 1,800 in 1780, and they were divided into two branches: the Chamnapum and Wanapam proper.
